このコジーの名前の由来となった豊臣秀吉と「金色」は、権力と豪華さの象徴として深く結びついており、「黄金の茶室」や金箔を多用した城郭・調度品、さらには金色に輝く旗印「総金（そうきん）」など、あらゆる場面で金が用いられ、その財力と権威を誇示しました。特に黄金の茶室は、天皇や大名、外国使節を招く舞台装置として、政治・外交の場で使われ、絢爛豪華な桃山文化を象徴する存在でした。
